Subnet News — August 19, 2026

Falling subnet markets outnumbered rising ones at the cutoff, while ORO recorded the strongest daily move after a large on-chain purchase. The subnet desk tracks a privacy-network launch, benchmark-integrity changes, and a GPU-attestation blocker.

Forty-eight subnet markets rise while 76 fall

At the cutoff, 48 of 127 active alpha markets were higher over 24 hours, 76 were lower and three were effectively flat. ORO led at roughly 27.1%, while Zeus fell about 13.7%. The figures describe the tape at one point in time and are not a forecast.

A single wallet directs 2,497 TAO into ORO

At block 8,874,218, one wallet bought into SN15 with 2,497 TAO. SubnetRadar identified it as ORO's largest single-day purchase and said it more than doubled the subnet's staked TAO at the time. The transaction is verified on-chain; the buyer's intent and future actions are unknown.

UR replaces Mainframe and publishes its privacy-network stack

SN25 now identifies as UR and has published a reference implementation for a decentralized privacy and VPN network. The team says its existing URnetwork product has 350,000 monthly active users and more than 80,000 residential IP providers, while subnet testnet and full production operation remain ahead. The product metrics are team-reported and were not independently audited.

Protected-PCIe attestation blocks some engy miner provisioning

Multiple miners reported a GPU-not-genuine attestation error even with confidential-compute settings in place. The team traced the blocker to standalone attestation not supporting Protected PCIe systems and said a fix is coming, but no delivery time was given by cutoff.

Ditto v12 tightens benchmark rules after a top-five review

Ditto deployed v12 and reviewed the five leading agents after continued benchmark-exploitation concerns. Four entries failed the team's fairness review, one remained, and a retest mechanism that had been disabled accidentally was restored. Questions about retroactive enforcement remain unresolved.

Watchverified

Network conviction eases 0.8% over 24 hours

SubnetRadar showed 29.54 million alpha locked across 123 subnets, with 25.41 million perpetual and 4.13 million decaying. The dashboard recorded eight conviction events over seven days; today's visible events were below the 50,000-alpha Unlock Watch threshold. Decaying positions release continuously rather than as guaranteed one-day cliffs.

Updateverified

Eight hotkey swaps, with no coldkey swap or owner change in the daily window

The on-chain activity index counted eight finalized hotkey-swap events during the rolling 24-hour window, including a subnet-scoped SN120 rotation at block 8,879,116. It counted zero coldkey swaps and zero subnet-owner changes. Key rotations are operational events and do not, by themselves, prove a sale or change of project control.

Coverage notes

Searched

  • Public X indexing queries by active SN# and subnet name across SN1 through SN128
  • SubnetRadar August 19 tape, fresh briefs, live moments and conviction event ledger
  • TAO Daily, TaoStats, tao.com, official Bittensor sources and public subnet accounts
  • Public GitHub repositories attached to active subnets and current release activity
  • TAOMarketCap exact per-subnet API compared by SN# against the live Shizzy screener before publication
  • Every dated report from August 9 through August 18 for exact and semantic duplicate exclusion
  • Coldkey swaps, hotkey swaps, owner changes, alpha unlocks of at least 50,000 alpha, miner burn, halvings, registrations and deregistrations

Public-data gaps

  • Public X search does not expose a complete index of all posts; private, deleted, login-gated and rate-limited material could not be exhaustively reviewed.
  • Many original Discord messages require Bittensor server membership or login. Discord-derived items are linked to the corresponding public SubnetRadar brief and marked to reflect the available evidence.
  • No verified scheduled alpha unlock of at least 50,000 alpha was found for August 19 or a future date. Smaller conviction events were excluded from Unlock Watch.
  • No material new alpha halving, subnet registration, deregistration, exchange announcement or confirmed security exploit surfaced inside the window.
  • No material new public update was verified for subnets with empty update arrays. Unchanged stories and repeated descriptions from the prior ten reports were excluded. This report is informational and not financial advice.
